Former Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel could be about to become the next England manager with the two parties said to be locked in negotiations.

Thomas Tuchel has been linked with a number of roles since leaving Bayern Munich at the end of last season. He came close to joining Manchester United, but now it appears that he could become the next England manager.

Multiple reports in Germany and England are claiming that Tuchel and the English FA are in negotiations and the 51 year old could be set for a swift return to football.

Thomas Tuchel is still under contract at Bayern Munich

Tuchel appears to be the clear favorite and the prefered choice for the role, with Pep Guardiola - another former Bayern Munich head coach and England target - increasingly likely to extend his stay at Manchester City. According to Sky Sports in England, an agreement between Tuchel and the English FA could be reached quickly if the negotiations progress well.

Bayern Munich parted ways with Tuchel after failing to win the Bundesliga title for the first time since 2012 last season. The club’s first trophyless season in 12 years was also marred by his fractured relationship with some of the club's bosses.

Tuchel is still under contract at Bayern Munich, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season. But he will be able to take on another role without any compensation being due to Bayern Munich.

Before joining Bayern, Tuchel also coached the likes of Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and Mainz 05.

Lee Carsley is currently the interim head coach of the England national team. But Bayern Munich striker and England captain Harry Kane could soon be reunited with Thomas Tuchel if the latest reports are to be believed.
