FC Bayern vs PSG meet in the Champions League: Who will have the biggest impact on the game?
Which PSG players could cause problems for Bayern?
There is a young french kid on PSG right now that has been absolutely taking over, putting up video game numbers in Ligue 1. Bradley Barcola, who is still only 22 years of age, has 10 goals and two assists so far in Ligue 1, but has none in the Champions League. This kid has a lot of talent, composure, and toughness, but I don't believe he has the experience yet to be the guy to take over the game and win it. He is accompanied up top by Ousmane Dembele, the former FC Barcelona wonderkid who has also had a pretty good season so far, having a record of five goals and four assists.
Dembele, known for his speed and craftiness, is somebody that can create a chance out of nothing, so he is absolutely somebody that Bayern need to be weary about getting into the attacking third. If Bayern shut him down, however, it will be much harder for this PSG team to create chances to go ahead. These two are the largest attacking threats, but João Neves and Vitinha are another couple of players who can make a difference without having to get their names on the scorecard. The two Portuguese midfielders have been outstanding for PSG, and they will need to be brilliant if they are going to get any points out of this tough match.
Prediction
I think that this game will be a fight from beginning to the end, but I think Bayern will ultimately outgun the French side and take all three points. It will be up to the defense, to be perfectly honest, to get the win for Bayern, but I think it will work out for Vincent Kompany's side in the end. I don't think PSG's performances in the Champions League will elevate anytime soon, and I think Bayern will start to hit their stride and continue to make small--but important--progressions to becoming a much stronger team.
I believe that PSG will struggle with the passing abilities and movement of Gnabry and Kimmich in the long run, and the lack of great chances created will lead to PSG's downfall. I don't think that it will be a blowout by any means, but I think a solid two-goal win for FC Bayern would give them the confidence to push forward and get into the top 8 that qualify automatically for the next round of play.
