The start to the 26/27 season hasn't been the smooth sailing Bayern fans have become accustomed to in recent years. Bayern currently sits third in the Bundesliga, two points behind league leaders Freiburg, and are coming off the back of an astonishing 3-3 draw with Norwegian side Viking in the Champions League.

This is somewhat of a vulnerable time for Bayern as they have a number of huge matches one after the other this month, and with so much focus being put on not slipping up in any of them, that's when the slip-ups usually happen, and for Bayern they can't afford to have another poor performance. The first of the huge matches is this weekend's clash with RB Leipzig, and Leipzig captain David Raum is loving his side's chances of pulling off the shocking upset.

While speaking with Sky Sports (via iMiaSanMia on X), RB Leipzig captain David Raum was asked about his side's chances against a struggling Bayern this weekend, with the German fully backing his side to be able to pull off the upset. Raum went on to say:

"We don’t see ourselves as complete underdogs, but we have to admit that, given Bayern’s quality, especially in recent years, how things have gone for them and how the past two years have gone for us, we’re not quite on the same level. We have to be realistic about that. Nevertheless, we have the squad and the quality to cause Bayern problems and certainly come away with something. That’s why we’re heading there with confidence."

RB Leipzig hoping to be next to capitalize on Bayern's poor form

Leipzig currently sits fifth in the Bundesliga, two points behind Bayern, and despite losing two of their five league games, have been in strong form since the return from the international break. Leipzig hammered Frankfurt 6-0 in the Bundesliga and pulled off a hard-fought 1-0 win over PSV in the Champions League this week, heading into the matchup with Bayern in winning form, which could be the difference-maker between the two sides.

Bayern are coming off back-to-back draws against Augsburg and Viking and will be in their own heads to perform well and take home all three points, which is when slip-ups can happen when you get in your own head too much. Bayern haven't been putting in the strong team performances like Leipzig, so Raum backing his squad to pull off the upset on the road makes all the sense in the world.

Bayern will still be without Jamal Musiala as he has still not yet recovered from the injury he suffered over the international break, and could also be without Manuel Neuer, who is still dealing with a foot issue. It may sound a bit dramatic, but this is a must-win game for Vincent Kompany's men; they can't afford another slip-up in the league, with games against Freiburg and Borussia Dortmund still to follow this month, as well as a huge Champions League clash with Arsenal next week.
