After winning five Bundesliga games in a row, Bayern Munich resume their Champions League campaign against Atalanta on Tuesday. It will be a trip to Bergamo for Vincent Kompany’s men as they look to continue where they left off in the group stage.

Bayern lost only against Arsenal during the group stage, which helped them to finish in the top four after eight games. They have been ruthless in the attack, scoring goals for fun. With the attacking players still in fine form, Bayern are heavy favourites for the game against Atalanta.

Meanwhile, Atalanta mounted an enormous comeback against Borussia Dortmund in the play-off stage to set up a game against Bayern. The Italian side plays an entertaining style of football and can trouble any team on their turf. It is going to be an exciting and challenging game for the Bavarian club.

Team News

Bayern received a big boost ahead of the big game against Atalanta as Harry Kane travelled with the squad on Monday. The English forward missed the weekend’s game against Borussia Monchengladbach due to a calf problem. He trained with the squad on Monday and travelled to Italy.

Alphonso Davies has also recovered from the minor injury that he had suffered at the start of February. The Canadian is likely to get some game time from the bench on Tuesday. Manuel Neuer will miss the game against Atalanta due to a minor injury that he picked up against Gladbach.

Predicted Starting XI

With Manuel Neuer unavailable, Jonas Urbig will start in goal on Tuesday. Taking on a stern test in a hostile environment, Urbig has shown promise for Bayern since arriving from FC Koln at the start of 2025 and should be positioned to deliver a solid performance against Atalanta.

Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah will start in the heart of defense. The duo has been Bayern’s best center-backs this season. In the full-back positions, Vincent Kompany's selection will be straightforward. Konrad Laimer will start in the right-back position, while Josip Stanisic will play on the left side of the back four.

Kompany had rested Aleksandar Pavlovic against Gladbach. The young German midfielder has been in fine form this season. He is expected to replace Leon Goretzka in the lineup and start alongside Joshua Kimmich in the center of the park.

After resting his key attacking players on Friday, Kompany will unleash his best attacking quartet on Tuesday. Harry Kane will lead the attack with Serge Gnabry in the number ten position. Michael Olise will start on the right flank, while Luis Diaz will occupy the left side of the front four. Jamal Musiala would have been in this front four, but Die Roten are managing his minutes. He played the entire 90 minutes against Gladbach on Friday, so Kompany will most likely start him on the bench against Atalanta.

Predicted Starting XI: Urbig; Stanisic, Tah, Upamecano, Laimer; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Diaz, Gnabry, Olise; Kane

Score Prediction

Atalanta 1-2 Bayern Munich

Considering how well Atalanta performed in Bergamo during the play-offs, it is unlikely to be a routine win for Bayern. However, their recent form suggests Kompany’s men should get a narrow win on Tuesday.
