Bayern Munich are back in action on Friday after a three-week international break. The Bavarian club will resume the Bundesliga campaign with a trip to Augsburg. It is going to be an intriguing encounter for Bayern as they suffered defeat in the Bavarian derby last season.

Die Roten are unbeaten this season, but their goalless draw against Schalke on matchday two has left them second in the points table behind arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund. However, Vincent Kompany’s men are picking up form and have looked back to their best in the last few games.

Augsburg has enjoyed a promising start to the season. They are currently fourth in the Bundesliga table, picking up seven points in the first four league games. Saturday’s hosts will face Bayern on the back of a 3-2 defeat away at Werder Bremen.

Team News

Bayern have a strong squad available for the clash against Augsburg as they only had one injury casualty during the international break. Jamal Musiala was injured in training during his time with the German national team. The 23-year-old is expected to be out for a few weeks.

Konrad Laimer had missed the last Bundesliga game due to a minor injury, but he is expected to be fit for the clash against Augsburg. Serge Gnabry had a productive international break in terms of building fitness after being out for four months. He played for Germany during the last three weeks.

Predicted Starting XI

Manuel Neuer had a good break since he retired from international football after the World Cup in the summer. The veteran goalkeeper is expected to lead the team against Augsburg on Saturday.

With Laimer returning from injury, the Austrian is expected to start on the right side of the back four. Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah will form the center-back partnership against Augsburg. Alphonso Davies had opted against playing for Canada during the international break due to personal commitments, so he should be fresh to start against Augsburg.

Joshua Kimmich was rested for Germany’s last two games, so he is expected to start in midfield against Augsburg. Aleksandar Pavlovic will play alongside Kimmich in the center of the park.

Luis Diaz was also rested by Colombia during the international break, so he is expected to start on the left flank. Michael Olise will slot in the right wing position, while Ismael Saibari will play in the number ten position behind Harry Kane.

Predicted Starting XI: Neuer; Davies, Tah, Upamecano, Laimer; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Diaz, Saibari, Olise; Kane

Score Prediction

Augsburg 0-3 Bayern Munich

Bayern looked back to their best just before the international break. Harry Kane is back to scoring every game, while Michael Olise is in the form of his life. The midfield and defense also looked solid. Considering all these factors, anything but a comfortable win for Bayern on Saturday looks unlikely.
