Bayern Munich resume Bundesliga action after the conclusion of the final international break of 2025 with a home game against Freiburg. The Bavarian club is looking to get back to winning ways after dropping points for the first time this season during the 2-2 draw against Union Berlin on matchday 10.

Vincent Kompany’s men have been in sublime form this season. They are yet to suffer a defeat this campaign across all competitions. Bayern are playing an attractive style of football, dominating teams in and out of possession. The Belgian coach will hope to see his players maintain the momentum in the upcoming weeks before they disperse for the winter break.

Meanwhile, Freiburg are having a mixed campaign, sitting in the 10th position after ten games in the league. Freiburg will need to make a special effort to secure a positive result at the Allianz Arena on Saturday, having won only one of their last five league games.

Team News

Bayern Munich had a few players miss training sessions this week after returning from the international break. Serge Gnabry will not be in the squad against Freiburg due to a minor injury he suffered during his time with the German squad. Gnabry is expected to be fit for the mid-week Champions League game.

Joshua Kimmich also missed one training session, but Vincent Kompany has insisted that he will certainly play against Freiburg. Manuel Neuer missed a training session on Thursday due to illness, but he is expected to be ready for Saturday’s game. Hiroki Ito will be in the matchday squad for the first time this season after having a frustrating spell on the sidelines due to injury. Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies remain Bayern’s long-term absentees.

Predicted Starting XI

Kompany insisted in his press conference that a late call will be made on Neuer’s fitness. The Belgian coach is optimistic about the German goalkeeper’s chances of playing on Saturday. As things stand, Neuer is expected to make it to the starting XI against Freiburg.

With one eye on next week’s Champions League clash against Arsenal, Kompany may make a few changes to the starting XI. Jonathan Tah and Dayot Upamecano will play in the heart of the defense. Sacha Boey may get a start in the right-back position, while Konrad Laimer will slot in the left-back role.

Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka will start as the midfield pairing against Freiburg. Aleksandar Pavlovic will be saved for the clash against Arsenal.

In the attack, Luis Diaz will start on the left flank. The Colombian winger is suspended for the game against Arsenal, so he is likely to play the entire game on Saturday. Harry Kane will play in the number ten role with Nicolas Jackson leading the attack. Michael Olise will complete the attacking quartet by lining up on the right flank.

Predicted Starting XI: Neuer; Laimer, Tah, Upamecano, Boey; Kimmich, Goretzka; Diaz, Kane, Olise; Jackson

Bayern have been flawless at Allianz Arena this season. Despite dropping points against Union Berlin, there will be no drop in confidence in the squad due to the fantastic start to the season. Kompany’s men will dominate the proceedings on Saturday and get back to winning ways ahead of the big Champions League clash against Arsenal.
