Bayern Munich had made signing a forward this summer their top priority. They strengthened the attack by signing Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven. Bayern moved quickly to sign the Moroccan forward after they missed out on Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.

The Bundesliga champions have no plans to add another forward to the squad this summer after signing Saibari. However, they have found an internal solution to add more depth to Bayern’s attacking options.

Earlier this month, Bayern announced that Arijon Ibrahimovic has signed a contract extension until 2028. The youngster’s previous deal was set to expire in 2027. He was expected to leave Munich this season after spending the last two seasons on loan at Frosinone, Lazio, and FC Heidenheim. However, Bayern have different plans for the 20-year-old versatile forward.

According to Sky Sports journalist Kerry Hau and Transfermarkt, a conversation with Vincent Kompany convinced Ibrahimovic to stay at Bayern. The 20-year-old forward is set to be part of the first team next season and get adequate playing time. Die Roten have no plans to arrange another loan move for him. His versatility allows him to play across the three positions behind Harry Kane.

Ibrahimovic had a very productive loan spell at FC Heidenheim last season. He made 32 appearances in the Bundesliga, scoring two goals and providing two assists. Die Roten and Vincent Kompany will hope to see him emulate this form in the Bavarian colours next season.

Ibrahimovic needs to hit the ground running in the pre-season

Bayern will not have the entire squad available for most of the pre-season, as several players will get an extended break due to their participation in the World Cup. In the absence of star players, Ibrahimovic is expected to get starts in the pre-season friendly games.

The 20-year-old forward needs to grab these opportunities with both hands and deliver impressive performances to cement his place in the first team squad. A strong pre-season will ensure Ibrahimovic will be in contention to get game time at the start of the season.

Vincent Kompany did a fine job with every forward last season. Lennart Karl enjoyed a terrific debut season for Bayern. It was not surprising to see the Belgian coach quickly convince Ibrahimovic to stay in Munich, since he has a good track record of getting the best out of forwards. However, Ibrahimovic has to make the most of the opportunities he will get because competition in the attack will be fierce at Bayern next season.
