Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt have done significant business this summer. Nathaniel Brown left Eintracht Frankfurt to join Bayern for a reported fee of €55 million. The German left-back was one of the most sought-after defenders this summer, but Bayern managed to beat the competition to sign him.
The two clubs are also negotiating another transfer as per the latest developments in Germany. According to Sky Sports in Germany, Eintracht Frankfurt are in advanced talks with Bayern to sign Noel Aseko on a permanent deal.
The Bavarian club is open to parting ways with the young midfielder for a fee of €12 million. There is unlikely to be a buyback clause inserted in the deal, but Bayern are hoping to include a sell-on clause.
Aseko had a positive loan spell at Hannover last season. The second division side activated the option to sign him permanently. However, Bayern also quickly used the buy-back option to sign the 20-year-old midfielder.
With the departure of Leon Goretzka this summer, Aseko was expected to be part of Bayern’s pre-season squad. The young midfielder was attracting interest from Frankfurt and AS Roma. It does look like Bayern are open to parting ways with the player as long as their request for a €12 million fee is met.
Aseko certainly has the potential to succeed at Frankfurt. Considering their good record of developing young players, Aseko will be moving into an ideal environment to improve his game. The two clubs will hope to agree a fee in the coming days to ensure Aseko’s future is sorted before the start of pre-season training.
Bayern looking at internal solutions to strengthen midfield
Bayern have lost experience in midfield with the departure of Leon Goretzka. They had shown interest in teenage sensation Kennet Eichhorn, but the overall cost of the deal ensured they pulled the plug on the transfer.
With Aseko close to completing a move to Frankfurt, Bayern do not have immediate plans to sign a new midfielder. They are content with their options and have internal solutions to improve the depth.
According to Kicker, Tom Bischof and Nathaniel Brown are set to boost Bayern’s options in the midfield. Bischof excelled as a midfielder at Hoffenheim before joining Bayern last summer. He had to play in the full-back position regularly during his debut season for Die Roten. However, his game time in the midfield is set to increase next season. He is expected to be the third-choice midfielder in the squad.
Brown is also expected to play in the midfield for Bayern at times next season. Considering the qualities and potential of Brown and Bischof, Die Roten have no immediate plans to sign a midfielder this summer.
