The biggest revelation for Bayern Munich this season has been the emergence of Lennart Karl. The youngster has made the most of the opportunities in the first team. His performances have also led to shouts for him to be included in Germany's World Cup squad later this year.

However, the youngster made a mistake during his media duties after the winter break. Bayern's starboy, Lennart Karl, is at the center of criticism after a poor answer during a fan meeting over the weekend.

"Bayern is a very big club, I love playing there… but I also have another dream, at some point I definitely want to go to Real Madrid. Bayern is a very, very big club. Real is my dream club, but that stays between us. Of course, Bayern is something very special; it's a lot of fun at the club."

This statement did not meet the approval of Die Roten's prideful fanbase. Bayern and Real Madrid are two of the most decorated clubs in Europe and in the world. Their rivalry on the European stage has always been heated on the field, but also plagued by off-the-field drama.

Understandably, Bayern fans would never want to lose another key player to Los Blancos after seeing the departures of Toni Kroos and David Alaba in the past decade. Alphonso Davies also triggered a lot of outcry when news of his rejection of Bayern's offer to move to Madrid broke. The Canadian ended up committing his long-term future to Bayern.

Seeing the club's next big thing saying these words after only debuting for less than six months was a tough pill to swallow for Bayern fans.

Lennart Karl was adored by even the toughest critics for his charismatic playstyle and dedication to training. His mesmerising performance has captured the hearts of many. But now, the 17-year-old faces a firestorm on social media for this questionable statement.

Disappointment, rage, and shock are the common themes in every comment section. Many even criticized Bayern because of the lack of media training for Lennyart Karl before sending him to the fan club.

Lennart Karl's current contract with Bayern Munich runs until 2028, having been extended in 2025. This publicised intention will make it difficult for Die Roten to retain one of the world's best youngsters. But do fans want him here still after hearing that?

Bayern chiefs will certainly get a word in Karl and his representatives' ears. It is a mistake that teenager should certainly be forgiven for, but Bayern need to ensure that they continue to give a platform for young players to show their best talent, which will eventually ensure that they stay in Munich in the long run.
