At Uhlsport Park in Unterhaching, Jose Barcala’s side made a bright start. Bernadette Amani was immediately involved as Bayern looked to threaten the Real goal, but the first attack through the Ivorian midfielder was turned behind for a corner.

The home side continued to offer the early threat, but it was Real who took the lead in the eighth minute. Caicedo showed determination down the left to get her cross away, and Athenea del Castillo applied the finishing touch as she fell to the ground.
Bayern were undeterred by the early setback and fashioned a good chance from an excellent Klara Bühl cross, but Edna Imade was just unable to get a foot to it and turn it home.
In the 21st minute, a Linda Dallman effort was cleared off the line. An equaliser looked only a matter of time. Instead, Dutch forward Lineth Beerensteyn doubled Real’s lead just moments after Dallman had been denied. The ball eventually fell perfectly for Beerensteyn, who powered a header past goalkeeper Ena Mahmutovic.

Imade hands Bayern a lifeline
Once again, Bayern refused to let the setback knock them off their stride. They continued to push forward and were rewarded in the 32nd minute when Imade pulled a goal back. Bühl again supplied an inch-perfect cross from out wide, and Imade rose highest to head home and make it 2–1.
Bayern continued to dictate play for the remainder of the second half, but fortune was on Real’s side too. Linda Dallman struck the post, while Bayern should have been awarded a penalty moments earlier. There was, however, no VAR available in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Tanikawa caps Bayern’s fightback
Bayern’s relentless pressure paid off in the second half. Momoko Tanikawa pounced on a loose ball on the edge of the penalty area and curled a fine effort past Merle Frohms.
With the score level at 2–2, the contest remained intense and physical. The next clear-cut chance fell to Real, with Beerensteyn again going close with a header that flashed just wide. Both sides went close to finding a winner in the remainder of the second half, but a draw was a fitting result for an entertaining contest.
Bayern now have five points from three matches, which has them sitting fourth in the table. Their next UEFA Women’s Champions League fixture is another enticing encounter: away to PSG on November 10th.
