2022/23: €146.5 million spent - More turned out to be less...

Matthijs De Ligt (Juventus) - €67 million: 6/10

Bayern spent big on a center-back once again - what a shocker! It seemed to be worth every bit at first when De Ligt had an amazing debut campaign, scoring big goals and making outstanding defensive plays week in and week out. The hype fizzled out a bit in his second year at the club due to injuries, but De Ligt was still among the best performers when available. The board's decision to sell De Ligt after only his second season faced a lot of backlash from fans. His grade would have been higher if he had enjoyed a longer career at Bayern.

Sadio Mane (Liverpool) - €32 million: 4/10

Mane came off a fantastic season at Liverpool, which saw him finish third in the Ballon d'Or rankings. But he was a shadow of himself at Bayern. As if a fine start to the season would see Mane succeed as a false 9 in Julian Nagelsmann's system, it went rolling downhill from then on. The Senegalese played poorly on the pitch and committed an off-the-pitch altercation with teammate Leroy Sane, which is reportedly one of the reasons that led to his departure to Saudi Arabia.

Mathys Tel (Rennes) - €20 million: 6/10

It is still too early to "Tel" if the French wonderkid is done for at the Allianz Arena. He showed impressive glimpses in his first year at the club, playing as a winger and a striker for his speedy dribbles and clinical finishing, before taking a big step in his second year under Thomas Tuchel. Yet, Mathys Tel has slowed down tremendously this season before being sent out on loan. There is no confirmation of his future just yet, but he is still young and is oozing with the potential to become something in Munich if he decides to stay.

Ryan Gravenberch (Ajax) - €18.5 million: 4/10

The world has seen what Ryan Gravenberch can do, but Bayern seemed to turn a blind eye. He has done it in Ajax and in Liverpool, but he failed to do so in Bayern. Ryan Gravenberch has all the talent to be the next midfielder: lanky, skillful, and extremely composed. Thomas Tuchel's tendency to underutilize young players might be the one to blame here. It is a hard pill to swallow seeing a talented player go to waste at Bayern and then become one of the world's best after leaving Bavaria.

Yann Sommer (Borussia M'gladbach) - €8 million: 6/10

Brought in the bogeyman so he could not haunt us anymore. Yann Sommer was bought as an immediate replacement for the injured Neuer. Overall, the Swiss goalie played up to his standards which helped Bayern secure the Bundesliga trophy. He was then flipped the following season for a similar amount of money only to come back and haunt Bayern again in this year's Champions League quarterfinals.

Noussair Mazraoui (Ajax) - free transfer: 5/10

The Moroccan was nothing more than okay in his period at the club. His productivity was often hindered due to injuries. Bayern made a decision to move on from Mazraoui despite clearly lacking depth at right-back which shows his inability to stay healthy was concerning.

Daley Blind (Ajax) - free transfer: 3/10

Don't think any Bayern fan remembers what he did at the club.

Joao Cancelo (Manchester City) - loan transfer: 6/10

Although this is a loan, it is still a transfer worth mentioning. This is probably Bayern's best winter window transfer in recent memories, securing a top player at his position. Cancelo put up an amazing display in his half-season at Bayern although he couldn't help Die Roten make a deeper run in the Champions League. Bayern also made a wise choice declining his buy option in the end.
