After successfully concluding contract talks with Dayot Upamecano, Bayern Munich are expected to give priority to reinforcements in attack and midfield during the summer transfer window.

The primary position in the attack is likely to be a winger, specifically on the left flank. Die Roten want a winger who can deputize for Luis Diaz on the left side of the attack. The Colombian has been in phenomenal form since arriving from Liverpool during the last summer transfer window, but Bayern need depth in this position to compete on all fronts.

RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande has emerged as one of the most exciting wingers in Europe this season. He has excelled in the Bundesliga and delivered decent performances at the Africa Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast. Bayern are also showing concrete interest in the 19-year-old winger.

According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern have already touched base with the representatives of Diomande. Leipzig reportedly value him at €100 million, which may put off Bayern from completing the transfer.

Bayern will also face competition from the likes of Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Liverpool for the signing of Diomande. RB Leipzig would ideally like to keep him for one more season, but a bidding war and the player’s desire may force them to sanction a sale in the summer.

Diomande has developed rapidly after getting consistent game time at RB Leipzig. A move to a club like Bayern may see his game time reduced, but he will certainly be a key player for the club on a long-term basis.

Bayern Munich face competition from Premier League for another target

Along with Diomande, Bayern have also been linked with FC Koln winger Said El Mala. The youngster has been the shining light for Koln in a dismal season. Die Roten may have competition from the Premier League for El Mala’s signing.

As per Plettenberg, Brighton & Hove Albion have shown a strong interest in Said El Mala. They made an offer for the forward in the winter transfer window. There will be significant interest in the young forward from several clubs at the end of the season.

After signing Diaz last summer, Bayern will certainly look at a young winger instead of a superstar. El Mala and Diomande tick all the boxes for Bayern, but the transfer fee will decide the outcome of both pursuits. Along with signing a winger, Die Roten also need to sign a midfielder to replace Leon Goretzka.
