Luis Diaz
He still may not yet have decided which pair of his boots to label as ‘shooting,’ but the effort and involvement of Luis Diaz deserve appreciation. Over the course of the game, Diaz made his presence felt all over the pitch.
In the attack, Lucho drew the attention of several Hoffenheim defenders. He created three chances; fired off four shots, and had seven touches in the Hoffenheim box. In added time, he was truly unfortunate to see his delicately lobbed effort land on the top side of the crossbar. Off the ball, the 28-year-old Colombian completed five recoveries and also tracked back well to support Konrad Laimer at left-back.
Honourable mentions go out to the second-half substitute trio of Michael Olise, Joshua Kimmich, and Serge Gnabry. Despite conceding a goal after the trio’s introduction, Bayern’s attack went up a gear. Olise won the penalty that resulted in the third goal. In added time, Gnabry fired in the fourth from an acute angle after Kimmich’s initial shot was parried into his path by Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Baumann.
