On matchday four of the ongoing 2025/26 Bundesliga season, Bayern Munich visited the PreZero Arena to take on a resilient host team in TSG Hoffenheim.
The home team made life difficult for Bayern in the first half, but were eventually undone just before the half-time whistle when Harry Kane converted a corner from Lennart Karl.
Kane expertly converted two penalty kicks in the second half to register yet another hat trick and knock the wind out of the Hoffenheim sails. In the 82nd. minute Hoffenheim right-back, Vladimir Coufal, scored from a free kick, via a deflection off Josha Kimmich, to add some respectability to the scoreline.
However, substitute Serge Gnabry, from an extremely acute angle, scored a fourth for Bayern in added time to put the icing on the cake. Let’s take a look at three players who stood out for the Bavarian giants in Saturday’s victory over Hoffenheim.
Harry Kane
Another hat trick and another match ball for Harry Kane; it was just another day at the office for the England Captain, right? Not quite, after the high of the mid-week victory over Chelsea, Vincent Kompany opted for some squad rotation to give some players rest. This meant that Nicolas Jackson got his first start in a Bayern shirt as the center-forward with Kane slotting in as the number ten.
Based on the result, it’s clear that Kane was unaffected by the change of role as he took like a duck to water in the number ten position. The 32-year-old attacker was once again the best player on the pitch, not just because of his goals but also his excellent quality on he ball. His distribution and play-making were top-notch as he went 6/7 on long balls with a beautiful assortment, and overall, he found a teammate with 87% of his attempted passes (26/30).
