On matchday three of the ongoing league phase of the 2025/26 European Champions League, Bayern Munich welcomed Belgian side Club Brugge to the Allianz Arena.
The visitors offered little resistance early on and Bayern duly secured the win by racing out to a three-goal lead inside of 35 minutes, courtesy of one apiece from Lennart Karl, Harry Kane, and Luis Diaz. With eleven minutes left in regulation time, substitute-Nicolas Jackson added the fourth from close range to round off the scoring.
Wednesday’s performance embodied an excellent all-round team effort from the Bavarian giants. Let's look at three players whose performances stood out in the 4-0 victory.
Lennart Karl
In his first Champions League start. Lennart Karl grabbed the headlines by opening the scoring with a brilliant solo effort in the fifth minute of play. The manner in which the 17-year-old sensation collected the ball in the middle of the park, and then neatly dribbled past two defenders before depositing a beautifully curled shot past the keeper from just outside the box, belied his age.
It was Karl’s first goal for the senior team, and in the process, at 17 years, 242 days old, he became Bayern’s youngest ever scorer in the Champions League, surpassing Jamal Musial, who was 121 days older when he scored against Lazio back in 2021.
In 69 minutes of action, Karl seldom failed to impress. Apart from scoring the sensational goal, Karl completed both of his attempted dribbles and found a teammate with 87% of his passes (33/38) and covered an amazing 8.7km. He also won five of his eight contested ground duels.
