For matchday two of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season, Bayern Munich travelled to the WWK Arena to take on Augsburg. Bayern started the game on the front foot, playing at a high tempo, and would have taken the lead in the opening minute if Luis Diaz had been able to sort his feet out with an open goal at his mercy.

Despite that early missed chance, Die Roten went on to dominate the half and led 2-0 at the interval, courtesy of a fine headed goal from Serge Gnabry in the 28th minute and a tap-in from Diaz with the final kick of the half.

Michael Olise made it 3-0 just after the restart to seemingly put the game to bed. However, the home team rallied and fell just short of a stunning comeback by scoring the final two goals of the match. Let’s now highlight the three players whose contributions were the most impactful for Bayern in Saturday’s narrow 3-2 victory over Augsburg.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane may not have gotten his name on the scoresheet over the weekend, but he still had a splendid game. Despite being closely marked and registering just 41 touches, he was arguably Bayern’s most influential player in the match.

Over the course of the game, the 32-year-old striker periodically drifted into the number ten position, with devastating effect, from where he provided two assists. For Bayern’s opening goal, Kane delivered a brilliant cross from the inside-left channel, for the onrushing Gnabry to head in just before the hour mark. For the game’s decisive goal, from further out, Kane provided the assist for Olise to finish cleverly from inside the box. In total, the England Captain managed to create three big chances. Kane also contributed significantly defensively with four headed clearances.
