On Saturday evening, Bayern Munich visited the Wesserstadion to take on a struggling Werder Bremen side. Even though it came across as a workman-like performance at times, Bayern eventually came away comfortable 3-0 winners without breaking a sweat.

A first-half brace from Harry Kane gave Bayern a comfortable 2-0 lead. To their credit, the home side did try to mount a comeback after the resumption and could consider themselves unlucky when, just two minutes after the restart, a header from their defensive midfielder, Jens Stage, struck the woodwork.

The second half was an even contest until Leon Goretzka scored the third goal from the edge of the area in the 70th minute. Let’s take a look at who stood out for Bayern in Saturday’s victory.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane continued his rich vein of form with another brace on Saturday. Three minutes after converting another penalty, the English forward struck a long-range beauty in the 25th minute to put his team firmly in the driver’s seat and simultaneously reached 500 goals for club and country over the course of his career to date.

In typical fashion when Kane wasn’t tormenting defenders in the box, he made his presence felt in other areas of the pitch. Apart from his brace, the 32-year-old striker also created two chances.

Off the ball, Kane chipped in by winning three ground duels and completing eight recoveries to go along with a blocked shot and clearance.
