Luis Diaz

For the third name on the list, debutant Luiz Diaz just edges out his fellow attacker, the aforementioned-Harry Kane as a result of having scored the game’s decisive goal.

In three pre-season games, Diaz had failed to score for his new team, so in the second half, there would have been a welcome sigh of relief, for multiple reasons, when the Colombian international scored in his first competitive game for Die Roten.

Apart from the goal, Diaz showed both composure and determination over the course of the match. He found a teammate with 90% of his passes and worked hard defensively on numerous occasions. The Bavarian faithful will be looking forward to Lucho building on this performance.

Honorable mentions go out to Serge Gnabry and Dayot Upamecano. Gnabry managed to put in two pinpoint crosses, the second of which set up the winning goal. He had a good game but, at times, struggled in link-up play with both Laimer and Olise. Dayot Upamecano was the best defender from either team in a game where the overall level of defending was at times not that good. He was solid at the back and excellent in his ball distribution; his only real blemish was a yellow card he received in the first half.
