Manuel Neuer
Soon after Bayern took the lead, within the space of a minute, Manuel Neuer made two outstanding saves, almost back-to-back, to preserve Bayern’s 1-0 lead. Midway through the first half, the sweeper keeper raced off his line to block Jamie Leweling from inside the box. In the same passage of play, just seconds later, Neuer was back on his line to keep out a close-range shot from the highly sought-after Nick Woltemade.
Had either of those attempts found the back of the net, it would have been a different kettle of fish. In the second half, Neuer showed that he still has great reflexes when he reacted well to keep out a sharply deflected shot which was headed into the roof of the net.
Despite the victory, Neuer was the busier of the two goalkeepers. All told, he made four saves compared to only one from Fabian Bredlow in the Stuttgart goal.
