Konrad Laimer
On an evening when the players could have been forgiven for having their thoughts on post-match activities, no outfield player looked more focused than Konrad Laimer.
The Austrian midfielder playing in the right back role delivered the sort of performance that exemplified why he is Vincent Kompany’s first choice in that position. Apart from being a bit off with two attempted crosses, the 27-year-old gave a near-flawless performance against Gladbach.
Throughout the evening, Laimer defended resolutely. He won five of his six contested ground duels and two of his three tackles. He also completed three recoveries and made one clearance. Additionally, Laimer provided the necessary outlet when Bayern were building from the back or needed someone to carry the ball forward from their half.
In attack, Laimer once again proved to be the perfect foil for Michael Olise with his underlapping and overlapping runs. He had 82 touches in the game and found a teammate with 94% of his passes (60/64) and was a perfect 2/2 with his dribbling. He also completed seven passes into the final third and created three chances.
