Konrad Laimer
Chelsea’s Pedro Neto and Cole Palmer kept Konrad Laimer on his toes all night, but Austria’s version of the army knife gave as good as he got. Laimer had 72 touches in the game and found a teammate with 88% of his passes (42/48). On offense, he created two chances and himself also came close to scoring on one occasion. He combined excellently with both Olise and Kane to give Bayern an extra attacking thrust.
Off the ball the 28-year-old completed five recoveries, made three clearances and blocked a shot. Despite not always getting the better of the duels with the opposing players, Laimer was arguably Bayern’s best defender on the night.
Just six minutes into the second half Laimer’s versatility became an even bigger factor when he switched from right to left-back after Josip Stanisic vacated the left-back position due to injury.
