Michael Olise

In general terms, it wasn’t a man-of-the-match performance from Michael Olise on Saturday. However, the 23-year-old French attacker was still Bayern’s most creative attacking force against Union Berlin.

During Olise’s 82-minute stay on the pitch, apart from combining well with Josip Stanisic, he also created three big chances (the most by any player) and was fouled on three occasions. When the opportunity arose, he also looked to score himself, but three of his four shots were blocked. It may not have been his night but it wasn’t for a lack of effort.

Out of possession, Olise also contributed to his team’s cause by winning four of his eight contested ground duels and completing three recoveries. An honourable mention goes out to Joshua Kimmich, who had a good game in midfield.

Olise and his Bayern teammates now head off on international duty and will resume Bundesliga action in roughly two weeks’ time on March 29, hopefully without any injuries.
