Dayot Upamecano

Dayot Upamecano didn’t get his name on the score sheet, but he was Bayern’s second-best defender on the night, and needed to be as the starting full-backs- Hiroki Ito and Tom Bischof struggled against the Leipzig wingers.

Although Upamecano only won half his 12 contested ground and aerials combined, he was efficient in his pressing and also with his tackling as he won three of four tackles including the one from which he simultaneously dispossessed Christoph Baumgartner and set up Gnabry for the equalizer.

Honorable mentions go out to Serge Gnabry and Manuel Neuer. For the second consecutive game, Gnabry scored the equalizer when Bayern was trailing 0-1. Neuer produced three outstanding saves at moments when the game was still delicately poised.
