Joshua Kimmich
After scoring the late winner, Joshua Kimmich got a lot of praise. However, it was not just his goal on Saturday that ensured he featured in the list. The German midfielder has endured a minor dip in his performances over the last few weeks, but he stepped up when it mattered against Bayern’s arch-rivals.
The German midfielder helped Bayern dictate the proceedings for the majority of the 90 minutes. Kimmich completed 88% of the passes he attempted at Signal Iduna Park. He had three shots on target, one of which eventually went in. The German international made Bayern tick in the center of the park on Saturday.
Along with scoring the winner, Kimmich played the delightful chip pass to Gnabry in the buildup to Bayern’s equaliser. It was a subtle pass, but very difficult to execute around the edge of the box.
The performance at Signal Iduna Park will boost Kimmich’s confidence and should be the base for him to build on for the rest of the season. If Bayern wants to win the treble, they need Kimmich to be at his best.
