For their final Bundesliga game of 2025, Bayern Munich visited the Voith-Arena to take on second-from-bottom Heidenheim. Having drawn 2-2 a week ago with last-placed Mainz at the Allianz Arena, there would have been some apprehension ahead of Sunday’s trip to Heidenheim.
Nothing less than a victory against Heidenheim would have sufficed in the final game before the winter break. Much to the relief of the visiting fans, despite some nervy moments in defense, Bayern managed to pull off a comprehensive 4-0 victory on matchday 15. Let’s take a look at who stood out for the Bavarian giants in Sunday’s win.
Michael Olise
Much like a week ago against Mainz, Michael Olise was once again the stand-out player in the final third for Bayern. Olise registered hockey assists for Bayern’s first and third goals with a corner kick in the first half and then a beautifully threaded pass to Josip Stanisic in the second half.
The Heidenheim defense was no match for the 24-year-old French winger. Olise completed 96% of his 50 attempted passes and created four chances in the process. He was a perfect 3/3 with long balls and was successful with two his three dribble attempts.
Off the ball, Olise also chipped in by winning four of his seven contested ground duels and completing two recoveries.
