Kim Min-jae
Despite dominating possession and hunting for goals, Bayern were occasionally exposed at the back by the Slovak side. However, Kim Min-jae was solid throughout the game in his defensive duties and executed the high-defensive line well in tandem with Joshua Kimmich. He also contributed well to Bayern’s attacking efforts.
From 111 touches in the match, Kim completed 92% of his passes, including an impressive 17 into the final third. He even managed a shot from a long distance but unfortunately, it was a bit too high. Even though he miscued an attempt on goal following a corner kick, there was no lack of effort at both ends of the pitch from the 28-year-old South Korean international.
Although Kim wasn’t asked to defend much against the Slovakian side, he still managed to win three of his four contested ground duels and four of six aerial duels. It was another noteworthy effort from Kim who continues to battle on through pain in both his knee and Achilles tendon in the absence of Dayot Upamecano.
Honourable mention goes to Leroy Sané who had a strong showing in attack and would have been a candidate for man-of-the-match had his finishing been better.
