On Saturday, Bayern Munich failed to win for the first time this season as they were held 2-2 at the Alten Forsterei Stadium by Union Berlin.

For most of the first half, a rather sluggish-looking Bayern Munich struggled to find any rhythm and created few chances. On the other hand, Berlin played with pace and intensity, defending as a unit.

Berlin defender Danilho Doekhi scored a brace to give his team the lead on two different occasions in the game. In the 38th minute, Luis Diaz scored with Bayern’s first attempt on goal from a very acute angle to level the score at 1-1 before the half-time interval. Harry Kane salvaged a point for the visitors through a header in the added time during the second half.

From a game in which Bayern were far from their best, let’s look at three of their better-performing players.

Luis Diaz

With Bayern looking void of ideas in the final third, Luiz Diaz scored a breath-taking goal to level the score at 1-1. Initially, it appeared as if Josip Stanisic had over hit the return pass to Diaz through the inside left channel.

However, in an effort that was typical of the unforgettable Thomas Müller, the 28-year-old winger stretched to keep the ball in play. In one motion, he got back to his feet and beat a defender before smashing the ball past the goalkeeper at the near post.

Even though Lucho would then go on to miss a clear 1 v 1 in the dying stages of the first half, his brilliant equalizer was all that the visitors had to celebrate when the referee blew the half-time whistle.
