Bayern Munich: Top performers from 4-0 win over VfB Stuttgart

Early on it looked as if Bayern were going to be in for a grind as Stuttgart tried to force the pace. However, thanks in no small part to Alphonso Davies their attempts failed to bring success.

With Raphael Guerreiro having been deployed as an inverted right-back by Vincent Kompany, Stuttgart tried to take advantage of Bayern’s lack of width on that side of the pitch. However, smart play between the entire back-four and Manuel Neuer in goal resulted in Davies being the perfect outlet as the left-sided full-back.

Not only was the Canadian international an excellent release valve on the left side of the defense, he was also a key component of the attack down that side as well. It was a fine all-round performance from Davies with his impressive recovery ability on display as the Canadian won five of six ground duels he contested in the game.
