Bayern Munich: Top performers from 4-0 win over VfB Stuttgart
Following the conclusion of the October international break, Bayern Munich resumed Bundesliga action by welcoming VfB Stuttgart to the Allianz Arena. The matchday seven encounter amazingly played out as a tale of two distinct halves.
After a first half of numerous broken plays and half chances, which ended goalless, Die Roten found the formula for success in the second half and thoroughly dominated the visitors by scoring four goals without reply. Courtesy of the win, based on superior goal difference, the Rekordmeister held on to top spot in the standings over RB Leipzig. Let us now take a look at the three players who stood out for Bayern as the team returned to winning ways in resounding fashion.
Harry Kane
The first 45 minutes on Saturday was anything but glistening for Harry Kane and other forwards for Bayern. Kane battled hard in the first half and threw himself about; dropped deep at times to provide variety in the attack, and tried turning provider at other times, all to no avail.
However, the England Captain was a different beast in the second half as he secured the points for his team with a crucial second-half hat-trick in the space of 23 minutes. Kingsley Coman’s strike, just before the final whistle, to make it 4-0 added further gloss to the scoreline.
In the 57th minute, Kane opened the scoring with a superb long-range strike from 25 yards. It was an inspirational moment in the match as up until then Bayern had been frustrated in their efforts from closer range. His second goal just three minutes later was all down to his persistence and cleverness in the box. The second goal visibly knocked the wind out of the Stuttgart sails. Kane duly completed his hat-trick in the 80th minute to take the man-of-the-match award.
