Leon Goretzka

With Alexandar Pavlović and João Palhinha unavailable due to injury, Leon Goretzka got his second start of the season alongside Joshua Kimmich in the center of the park. In his previous start against St. Pauli, before the international break, Goretzka looked low on confidence.

On Friday, the 29-year-old midfielder delivered a much-improved performance. In the 12th minute, Goretzka had the first chance of the game when he shot just wide from outside the box. Even though Goretzka was not on the scoresheet, he made a positive impact on the game.

The German midfielder registered one of his three shots on target, including a header that clipped the crossbar. He managed to win four of seven ground duels contested and also two of his three aerial duels. In terms of ball distribution, he completed 89% of his passes (63/71), including the cross that picked out Harry Kane for Bayern’s third goal. The Bavarian faithful will be hoping for another impressive performance from Goretzka when PSG visits the Allianz Arena on Tuesday in the Champions League.
