Bayern Munich: Top performers from 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund
Kim Min-jae
Kim Min-jae in a literal sense left his blood on the pitch for the Bayern cause on Saturday. In the 80th. minute whilst being adjudged to have committed a foul on Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy, the South Korean simultaneously received an accidental elbow from the striker above his right eye. With blood pouring from his wound, he was replaced by Michael Olise.
In his stay of 80 minutes on the pitch, Kim Min-jae was solid in his defensive duties. The 27-year-old South Korean defender won the majority of his tackles; made five recoveries and committed only one foul. Thanks in large part to the 28-year-old center-back, the hosts only managed two shots on goal.
With Harry Kane suffering what looked like a hamstring injury, an injury crisis looms ahead of Tuesday’s upcoming DFB-Pokal clash with Leverkusen. The Bavarian faithful will hope that the stitches on Kim’s head wound don’t make him less effective on Tuesday.
