Bayern Munich: Top performers from 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund
Jamal Musiala
Bayern started the game on the front foot. However, Harry Kane’s evening was cut short in the 33rd minute due to injury, making the game slightly challenging for the visitors. Someone had to step up for Bayern and that person was Jamal Musiala.
From the kick-off whistle, Musiala showed signs of being Bayern’s best player on the evening. After Kane’s departure, particularly in the second half, he took more responsibility for Bayern. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder had Dortmund defenders on the back foot with his mazy dribbling and passing. He created four chances in the game, including a big one for Thomas Muller early on in the second half. Unfortunately for Bayern, in a packed penalty area, from close range, Muller’s shot was brilliantly saved by Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.
Musiala eventually rescued a point for Bayern five minutes before the end of regulation time when he popped up in the center-forward position to nod home Michael Olise’s in-swinging cross from the right side of the box. The Bavarian faithful can once again be thankful for Musiala’s recently discovered aerial prowess.
