2) Werder Bremen (Bundesliga)- away

Whilst Bayern did win this fixture last season, 4-0 – the previous meeting between these two sides yielded a win for Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena in January. This game could not have been more different.

Midway through the first half, Kane slipped Olise through on goal, with the Frenchman keeping his composure to slot past the keeper. Nine minutes later, it was Olise’s turn to be provider. Showing incredible agility to weave past challenges in the box, the forward managed to find enough space to square to Musiala and double the lead.

Just over ten minutes into the second period, Kane slipped Olise in again, but this time – he decided to check back and lay the ball off to the 31-year old who fired the ball into the corner to make it 3-0 to Bayern.

Just minutes later, Olise had his second of the game to go with his two assists. After the ball had ricocheted away from Serge Gnabry, the ball fell to the attacker, who seemingly clipped the ball into the back of the net from18 yards out.

Finally, just five minutes later, Gnabry made it 5-0. Picking the ball out wide, the 29-year old cut inside, before firing a low driven shot into the bottom corner in a quality strike. For the final 25 minutes, Bayern managed the game really well to seal the 5-0 victory.

In fact, they managed the game so well, that their hosts did not have a single shot. Not on target, off target, nor blocked. Not only were Bayern scintillating going forward, they also put in an incredible defensive display.

Bayern had 3.02 xG to 0, three big chances to 0, 25 shots to 0, and 70% of the ball. It was like playing a fourth tier side in the DFB Pokal.
