Two goals from Luis Diaz and Harry Kane gave Bayern Munich a little advantage going into the return fixture at home against Real Madrid. Bayern Munich dominated possession in the first half and could have gotten the early lead if Dayot Upamecano and Serge Gnabry were more clinical inside the box.

The players' perseverance was eventually rewarded with an inch-perfect counterattack concluded by Luis Diaz late in the first half.

And only seconds into the second half, Michael Olise found Harry Kane for a perfectly placed long shot to double the lead.

After securing a two-goal cushion, Bayern slowed the pace down and gave Real Madrid control. The Los Blancos stars almost made them pay, but Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappé lacked their usual killer instinct, and Manuel Neuer was not making their lives any easier.

Leaving Bernabeu with an upper hand is a brilliant feat, but Bayern Munich still has work to do to ensure the complete victory. Let's look at the three biggest takeaways from the away win in Spain.
