Injury gods spared Bayern

For all the great attacking play and cohesion between defense and midfield, which resulted in Bayern having both the best attacking and defensive records in the Bundesliga, with the relatively thin squad, they remained just one major injury away from potential disaster during the Hinrunde. If either Kane or Olise had been absent for consecutive weeks, fingers would once again have been pointing at Max Eberl for the lack of squad depth.

With no disrespect meant to Nicolas Jackson he just isn’t capable of filling the boots of Harry Kane. Whilst expecting Lennart Karl to take up more responsibility at this stage of career is just not realistic without the risk of burnout.

Conclusion

Vincent Kompany and his men managed to raise the bar this season with fewer resources than a year ago. If the injury gods maintain mercy over the course of Ruckrunde and Alphonso Davies, Hiroki Ito, and Jamal Musiala can hit top form at the right time, then another treble is within reach. So far, so good, score this one for Max Eberl.
