Kingsley Coman starting to find consistency
Another positive on Saturday afternoon was the play of Kingsley Coman. The 28-year-old French winger had a brilliant 58-minute stay on the pitch. In added time of the first half, he achieved what has been a rarity from Bayern’s wingers all season long when he set up Harry Kane, with a cross from the left wing, to head home Bayern’s second goal. It’s no secret that, so far this season, Bayern’s veteran wing trio of Coman, Gnabry, and Sané has, more often than not, failed to deliver the kind of service that Harry Kane requires. Thanks to the excellent service from the left flank on Saturday the England Captain scored a brace with his head.
In addition to being a thorn in the side of Holstein Kiel during his time on the pitch, Coman completed 33/33 with his passes. It’s quite a rare feat for a winger to demonstrate perfect accuracy in his passing.
Last Wednesday Coman scored Bayern’s third goal in the 3-1 win over Slovan Bratislava after making an appearance as a substitute. On Saturday, although he didn’t score against Holstein Kiel it was an even better performance as he contributed, either directly or indirectly to three of Bayern’s four goals. For what it’s worth Coman still looks like Die Roten’s best winger.
