Improved performance in terms of breaking through low defensive block

Despite having a second half to forget in terms of defending, it wasn’t all doom and gloom as Bayern actually did well to break through the opposition’s low defensive block. Overall Bayern enjoyed 71% ball possession. Die Roten outshot Kiel 29 to 10 in terms of total shots and 12 to 6 in terms of shots on target.

It was a much better return compared to the 35 total shots with only 9 on target which was achieved in the 3-1 win against Slovan Bratislava just three days earlier in the European Champions League. It’s a shame that the defensive performance on Saturday couldn’t have matched that of the offense.
