Bayern continue to struggle to maintain focus for entire 90 minutes
Bayern Munich almost blew a commanding 4-0 lead inside the last 30 minutes at the Allianz Arena. Such an occurrence is unacceptable against any opposition, let alone a relegation-threatened side.
Having come to the defense of the coach throughout his inaugural season in charge of the German giants, this writer firmly believes that fingers can now be justifiably pointed at the Belgian coach, and not just his players, for Saturday’s debacle.
After the failure in Rotterdam, there were questions raised about the side’s complacency. Following Saturday’s near meltdown in added time, a lack of focus can be added to the list of things that need to be remedied for Bayern Munich. Optimists may argue that it was a one-off occurrence in added time, but in the Champions League against stronger opposition, the price to be paid for such lapses will, more likely than not, be elimination from the competition.
