Concern at left-back

Although Bayern were able to make light work of Hamburg, the left-back position has now become a source of concern. In the first half, the usually reliable Josip Stanisic seemingly misjudged the bounce off the ball, and that error led to a clear goal-scoring chance for Hamburg. Fortunately for Bayern, Manuel Neuer pulled off a smart save to spare the Croatian defender’s blushes.

At the start of the second half, Raphael Guerreiro replaced Dayot Upamecano. Stanisic then switched from left back to center-back and Guerreiro assumed duty at left-back.

Unfortunately, after just 18 minutes of action, Guerreiro had to call it a night because of an abdominal muscle injury. Tom Bischof replaced the veteran Portuguese defender. With Guerriero seemingly now joining Davies and Ito on the sidelines with injury, Bayern are now without a naturally left-footed defender in the squad.
