Bayern Munich: Takeaways from disappointing 2-3 loss against Vfl Bochum

Squad rotation didn't work out as intended against Bochum, but with Leverkusen also losing on Saturday, Bayern Munich maintain a comfortable eight-point lead over reigning Bundesliga Champions

Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sané once again didn’t do themselves any favours

Whilst João Palhinha continues to struggle for game time, the likes of Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sané continue to squander opportunities given to them.

Whilst neither Gnabry nor Sané were downright terrible against a weak Bochum team, neither player displayed the cutting edge or killer instinct in the attacking third of the pitch.

Midway through the first half, with his side leading 1-0, Gnabry struck the post from the penalty spot, which was awarded for a foul on Sané in the box. That miss ultimately proved costly. Overall, Sané didn’t fare much better than his fellow countryman on the evening; he didn’t manage a single shot on goal. There was no surprise when they were both replaced just after the hour mark.
