Bayern Munich's questionable defence, Jonas Urbig's brilliance

Despite keeping a clean sheet on matchday 33, Bayern Munich did not perform well defensively. This has been a common occurrence for the past month. Bayern has failed to keep a Bundesliga clean sheet for three games, conceding eight goals.

Admittedly, Stuttgart and Mainz 05 are seriously potent teams fighting for European spots, but Heidenheim is definitely not a team to concede three goals against.

This week, Wolfsburg, a struggling team sitting 16th on the table, put up 3.04 xG, including more than 2 xG in the first half. The theme was also similar: counterattacks and aerial plays. The hosts were unlucky not to score from Vinicius Souza's header and Dzenan Pejcinovic's tap-in. Well, not technically, because Jonas Urbig was playing phenomenal goalkeeping.

The way the 22-year-old flew around the post gives Bayern fans a reminiscence of young Manuel Neuer. However, Urbig could not bail out Bayern Munich the whole game. He was defeated in the dying minutes of the second half. Die Roten were lucky to see the ball hit the post and bounce clear.
But watching that play was extremely frustrating. Three to four Bayern defenders surrounded a smaller player like Kento Shiogai, but no one was decisive enough to make the tackle.

It happened against PSG when Kvaratskhelia, Barcola, and Doue were dancing in between a pack of red shirts, but no one would step up to make a proper tackle. There will be long and hard conversations for Vincent Kompany and his coaching staff this summer about how to fix the defence tactically and technically.
