Victory not that impressive despite the 5-1 scoreline

On paper, the final 5-1 score suggests that it was a dominant performance from Bayern. However, considering the fact that Hoffenheim played more than three quarters of the game with ten men and they scored the equalizer after going a man down, warrants both praise for their efforts and harsh criticism directed towards Bayern.

Manuel Neuer was the chief culprit and architect in conceding the 35th-minute equalizer. However, viewers would have been perplexed at how much Bayern were found wanting defensively after taking the lead.

Before Neuer gifted the ball to Asllanni who then laid it on a platter for Kramaric to equalize in minute 35, the visitors could have drawn level on two previous occasions through the same two players. Firstly, in the 29th minute, Asllanni was unlucky to see his header come back off the bar with Neuer completely beaten. Four minutes later, Kramaric drew a brilliant close-range save from Neuer. Unforgivably, Bayern had to weather a storm for a portion of the first half after Hoffenheim were reduced to 10 men.
