Joshua Kimmich regaining form at the right time

Joshua Kimmich scored the late winner against Dortmund on Saturday. Even if he hadn’t scored this call, it was a very encouraging performance from the German midfielder.

Kimmich has not looked at his best over the past few weeks. There have been uncharacteristic errors on the ball and poor positioning when Die Roten have been defending. The sheer number of games he has played this season, plus the ankle injury that troubled him in the winter, has taken a toll on his performances.

The German midfielder was not at his absolute best against Dortmund, but still looked far better than he has in the last few games. He was brave with the ball and defended well whenever Bayern were under pressure. This is good news for Bayern fans and Vincent Kompany.

Bayern have a significantly high chance of enjoying success this season if Kimmich gets back to his best. The performance against Dortmund can be the springboard for him to end the final phase of the season strongly. He couldn’t have picked a better game to regain his form. With big knockout games in the Champions League around the corner, the Bavarian faithful will be pleased to see Kimmich close to getting back to his best.
