Performance was all too typical of- Domination that lacked penetration
Notwithstanding the disappointment of now having to win a two-legged play-off against either Celtic or Manchester City to advance to the knock-out rounds of the competition, it was a fairly routine victory for Bayern on Wednesday.
However, the overall performance reflected the inefficiencies that have plagued Bayern’s attack for large parts of the season to date. The Bavarian side dominated proceedings with 75% ball possession and outshot the opposition 35 to 9 in total shots and nine to four in terms of shots on target. Profligacy in front of goal remains more than just a spot of bother. The six-time European Champions won’t get very far in the competition if that profligacy isn’t remedied.
