Good performance from Harry Kane despite poor showing from wingers

Harry Kane scored for the first time in three games when he opened the scoring with a brilliant turn and blistering shot. This was his first goal from open play since November.

Kane only had 35 touches despite playing the entire game. However, it wasn’t for a lack of effort. He contributed significantly out of possession by winning three of his four tackles and seven of eleven contested ground duels. The England Captain even chipped in with a blocked shot in added time.

Meanwhile the starting wing duo of Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sané provided very little service to the England Captain and their second-half replacements Kingsley Coman and Michael Olise didn’t fare much better. The performances from the veteran trio of Gnabry, Sané and Coman was a stark reminder of the need for an upgrade on the wings.
