Kim Min-jae and Eric Dier looked a solid combination at the back

Considering the fact that Bayern’s only loss in the Bundesliga this season (2-1 against Mainz) came with Kim min-jae and Eric Dier as the starting center-backs, it was quite a relief to see the team keep a clean sheet on Saturday.

With Kimmich and Goretzka dominating proceedings in the middle of the park, while Davies and Laimer bossed play on the flanks, it was a relatively quiet evening for Bayern’s center-back duo. Notwithstanding the impressive showing from the duo, it shouldn’t be overlooked that less than five minutes into the second half Gladbach striker Tim Kleindienst was allowed a free header on the far post, which grazed the crossbar, with Dier in the vicinity. Dayot Upamecano’s return to the starting XI will be a welcomed sight despite Saturday’s clean sheet with the English defender in the lineup.
