Bayern Munich continued their good run of form when the Bundesliga campaign resumed on Saturday. The defending champions hosted Borussia Dortmund on matchday 7 of the Bundesliga. It was not an emphatic victory, but Bayern did enough to get a 2-1 victory.

Courtesy of the victory on Saturday, Bayern have now won 11 games across all competitions since the start of the season. They are the only side of Europe’s top five leagues yet to drop points.

Vincent Kompany deserves a lot of plaudits for the sensational start to the season after a difficult summer transfer window. Bayern struggled to get deals over the line as they missed out on several key targets. The Bavarian club was busy on the deadline day to strengthen the depleted attack.

Kompany has managed to make the team better than last season. Harry Kane has specifically been in tremendous form for Die Roten this season, scoring more than 15 goals in the first 11 games of the season. While talking to the Daily Mail last week, Kane insisted that Kompany has played a key role in taking his game to the next level.

"I think he has unlocked a different level in me. Kompany is a fantastic coach, not just tactically but also as a person. "

Kane also admitted that Kompany’s style of football needs Bayern to be very crisp and quick in passing. The English international believes this style of football suits him perfectly and allows him to thrive in and out of the box.

Vincent Kompany was modest when he was asked about Kane’s praise for him in the build-up to the Der Klassiker. The Belgian believes that the entire credit goes to Kane for maintaining incredible consistency in his performances.

Kane shines against Dortmund in a different role

By his lofty standards, Kane only managed to score once against Borussia Dortmund. However, his performance was very impressive as he played behind Nicolas Jackson. The English forward contributed across the pitch- initiating moves, defensive work, and finishing the attacking moves.

Kane scored his 400th goal of his career on Saturday when he opened the scoring against Borussia Dortmund. He also became the fastest player to score 100 goals for a club in the top five leagues in this century. Considering his consistency, there is a good chance Kane will end up scoring close to 60 goals across all competitions.

Bayern are aiming to retain the Bundesliga title and achieve glory in the cup competitions. Kane’s experience and form are crucial for Die Roten to go all the way in the DFB Pokal and the Champions League.
