Bayern Munich welcomed a few senior players to Säbener Straße last week as they started preparing for the next season. The Bavarian club will see players reporting for pre-season in a staggered manner depending on how long they played in the World Cup.
German Bayern players will report for pre-season sooner than expected, as they were knocked out of the competition by Paraguay in the round of 32. Jamal Musiala will be keen to have a strong pre-season with Bayern after a disappointing last season and World Cup with Germany.
The attacking midfielder underwent routine surgery earlier this month. Bayern have insisted that he will be fit to play a part at the start of the season. However, Bild has reported that Musiala should be fine to participate in Bayern's pre-season plans.
The 23-year-old underwent this surgery to remove the metal plate in his left foot. This plate was likely placed in his foot last summer when he suffered a horrific injury during the game against Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup. Musiala missed the entire first half of last season due to this injury.
After returning from this serious injury, Musiala took some time to get closer to his best. He ended the season strongly but had an underwhelming World Cup. The Bavarian faithful will hope Musiala gets back to his best next season. The club chiefs are firmly backing him to rediscover his form and consider him to be part of their long-term plans.
Bayern not over reliant on Musiala, but they still need him
as been a key creative player for Bayern over the last few seasons. However, Vincent Kompany managed to find solutions for the team to compensate for his absence during the last campaign.
It helps Die Roten that Michael Olise is an extraordinary creative player from the flank. The French forward has been sensational for Die Roten over the last two seasons. He is currently lighting up the World Cup for France with five assists until now. However, the likes of Serge Gnabry, Harry Kane, and Lennart Karl also did a fine job when it comes to filling in the number ten role when Musiala was on the sidelines.
Bayern have signed Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven this summer. The Moroccan forward can also play behind Kane in the number ten position. Musiala’s quality is unmatched, but not having the entire creativity burden on his shoulders allows him to get into rhythm slowly and steadily.
