After a disappointing World Cup campaign, DFB has taken a drastic step of parting ways with head coach Julian Nagelsmann. The former Bayern Munich head coach resigned after Germany were knocked out in the round of 32 against Paraguay.

DFB announced the appointment of former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund head coach Jürgen Klopp as the new head coach of the German national team. There have been intense negotiations over the last few weeks among DFB, Klopp, and the Red Bull group to finalize this appointment.

Klopp is an exciting appointment for the German national team. He has been one of the most successful German coaches over the last two decades. Klopp helped Dortmund win two Bundesliga titles and also won every possible trophy with Liverpool, which included ending their Premier League title drought of 30 years.

The arrival of Klopp may see Germany play an exciting style of football. His Liverpool and Dortmund sides entertained fans while winning silverware. It will be intriguing to see if he can emulate the same results at the international level.

Klopp’s appointment will likely see a change of roles for several senior players. According to Sky Sports in Germany, Joshua Kimmich will not be playing in the right-back role under Klopp. The 59-year-old head coach’s priority task is to look for a new right-back. Kimmich was used in the full-back position under Nagelsmann.

Kimmich prefers playing in the midfield

The change in role with the national team will be music to Kimmich’s ears. The German international can do a good job in the right-back position. His crossing in the final third is a great asset for any team.

However, Joshua Kimmich is at his best in the center of the park. He has always insisted that central midfield is his preferred area to operate on the pitch. The 31-year-old has been a top player for Bayern in the center of the park. It would be a great, sensible decision from Klopp to deploy Kimmich in the central midfield and get the best out of him for the German national team.

Klopp is known for getting the best out of attacking players, so Bayern's young forwards Jamal Musiala and Lennart Karl will get an ideal coach to work with in the national team. The former Dortmund head coach’s first game for Germany will be against the Netherlands in the Nations League on September 24.
