Bayern Munich presented their new full-back signing, Nathaniel Brown, to the media on Wednesday. The German defender completed a move to Bayern from VfB Stuttgart earlier this month. However, he joined the pre-season training earlier this week.
Brown spoke to the media on Wednesday, outlining his ambitions to succeed in Bavaria. The Bundesliga champions also confirmed that Brown will be wearing number 11 for Bayern.
It is an unusual number for a left-back. This number is generally worn by attacking players. Nicolas Jackson wore this shirt last season after he arrived from Chelsea on a season-long loan deal. Die Roten decided against signing him on a permanent deal.
Brown was not the first preference for the number 11 at Bayern this season. While talking to the media on Wednesday (via iMiaSanMia), Max Eberl admitted that Michael Olise was offered the opportunity to switch to number 11. The French forward decided to stick with his existing number 17.

Eberl reiterates Bayern’s stance on Olise’s future
Olise has been sensational for Bayern since arriving from Crystal Palace in 2024. The French forward would have been a worthy candidate to wear the number 11 shirt at Bayern.
Eberl also ruled out the departure of Olise. The French forward has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid. Die Roten have consistently insisted that he is part of their plans for next season, so no offers will be entertained for him.
The director of sport insisted that he has been in constant touch with Olise throughout the summer. The French forward is happy to stay in Munich. He will report for pre-season in August once the squad returns from the pre-season tour of Asia.
The Bundesliga champions are hoping to secure the future of Olise. The club chiefs are expected to open contract talks with Olise next season. His current deal expires in 2029. Real Madrid and other European rivals will certainly come back for him next summer if Bayern fail to extend his contract. In an ideal scenario, Die Roten offer him a pay rise and extend his contract at least until 2031 to ensure he spends the peak of his career in Munich.
